Cognos: Report Studio Basics for eSchoolPLUS

Description: This session is designed for those who are new to report writing in Cognos 10 and for those who want a refresher on the basics. We will create a Class List using Report Studio and the data items found in the Scheduling folder. Along the way we will create a header, page breaks, calculated fields and prompts.

During the program you will learn:

  • How to create a Simple List
  • How to create a Header
  • How to work with prompts and display prompt responses in the Header
  • The basics of grouping and sorting and how to create a page break
  • How to create calculated fields
  • How to create a Crosstab

Cognos Drill-through reporting

Description: If you wanted to advance you cognos skills and incorporate the use of drill-throughs into your reporting repertoire, this is the session for you. Drill throughs can be used for ESP or TAC users, lists and graphs as well as in Workspace.  This is an introduction to drill-throughs and attendees will get copies of reports created and may need to make adjustments  for use in your district.

During the program you will learn:

  • What a drill through is
  • How to create both summary & detail reports
  • How to tie the summary report to a detailed report
  • Tips on drill through reports to facilitate easier implementation

Identifying At-Risk Students in eSchoolPLUS 4.0

Description: eSchoolPLUS includes At-Risk calculations and maintenance features to help you more quickly identify and better serve students in your school district. Attendance, Progress Reports, Report Cards, Behavior, Test Scores and Demographic information may all be used to tag students as At-Risk. During the session you will learn to configure and run the At-Risk calculations.

During the program you will learn:

  • How to configure and run Attendance At-Risk Calculations

  • How to configure and run Behavior At-Risk Calculations

Career Planner in eSchoolPLUS 4.0

Description: Take your graduation requirements a step further and build Career Plans that allow your students to see their four years of high school courses from the beginning of their freshman year. Career Plans can speed the course request process by displaying the core courses students need to complete to satisfy their Plan. With multiple Career Plans in place students can visualize different high school career paths. Please note that Career Plans that span more than 4 years require the use of a District-Wide Course Catalog.

During the program you will learn:

  • Basics of Graduation Requirements
  • How to create Career Plans
  • How Career Plans affect the Course Request process
  • How Career Plans interact with Course Prerequisites and Home Access Center

Description: If you have been considering the use of the Master Schedule Builder Options to create your Master Schedule for the next school year, this seminar will introduce you to the features of the Builder.

  • How to create meeting patterns for multi period and multi session courses
  • How to assign teacher and room resources
  • How to work with Block courses
  • Understanding Master Schedule Builder logic
  • How to evaluate the results of the Builder

  • How to schedule a report
  • How to burst data to recipients
  • Understanding how to monitor the database using Cognos Event Studio

Description: This session is designed for those who are new to graphing reports  & want to  learn how to properly construct meaningful graphs and  then  be able to  take several of those  graphs  and  convey a  cohesive message.

  • How to Create Graphs from existing lists/tables

Evaluating GPAs and Transcripts in eSchoolPLUS 4.0

Description: Ever wonder how an assessment from a teacher’s Gradebook moves through the system, becomes a grade, calculates into a GPA and finally appears on a Transcript? This seminar will follow an assessment grade from its point of entry, through your mark reporting setups, through your GPA calculations and onto a Transcript.

During the program you will learn:

  • Brief review of TAC Assessment entry
  • Review of Mark Reporting setups
  • How to calculate a GPA
  • How to interpret a GPA log
  • What to look for when grades don’t appear on a Transcript

  • Which setups, such as Teachers and Rooms are not year-specific
