Using Whiteboard to Create a Master Schedule

Description: Whiteboard provides a graphical, easy to use interface for creating and maintaining a Master Schedule.  Copy your Master Schedule from year to year?  Use Whiteboard to tweak and move sections.  Run Master Schedule Builder?  No problem, you can run the Builder first and then use Whiteboard or use Whiteboard first to place specific courses and then run the Builder to fill in around them.  You can even run the Student Scheduler from Whiteboard!  This session is designed for those administrators who are comfortable with the scheduling process and want to learn how to integrate Whiteboard into their current procedures.  Sessions for Entering and Evaluating a Master Schedule and Running the Student Scheduler may be more suited for newer schedulers and will incorporate Whiteboard where appropriate.

During the program you will learn:

  • How to navigate Whiteboard panes and customize the Whiteboard interface
  • Understand Best Fit recommendations
  • How to place new course sections
  • How to move and modify existing course sections
  • How to view Student, Staff and Room conflicts

Description: This session will review the Scheduling process from the Course Catalog to Analyzing a Scheduling Run. If you are new to Scheduling or want a refresher on the process, this session will give you the tools you need to get your students scheduled.

Cognos: Using a Multiple Query Report to Find Students Who Requested Two Prompted Courses

Description: This session is designed for those who have experience report writing in Cognos: Report Studio and want to learn how to create a join between two separate queries.  During this session we will create a list report displaying students who have requested two specific courses in a school year.

During the program you will learn:

  • How to create a list of students who have requested a prompted course
  • How to create a second list of students who have requested a second prompted course
  • How to join these two lists together to display only students who have requested both prompted courses

Description: If you have been considering the use of the Master Schedule Builder Options to create your Master Schedule for the next school year, this seminar will introduce you to the features of the Builder.

Security in eSchoolPLUS 4.0

Description: Security looks different in eSchoolPLUS 4.0.  Although many resources are the same, a few have been added to give you greater control over changes to your Master Schedule and emailing students.  During this session, we’ll review the process of creating roles, creating users, and applying district-defined security to district-defined pages and programs.

During the program you will learn:

  • How to create a Role Profile
  • How to create a User Profile
  • Review of Security Resources with a focus on new options
  • How to modify Security and override a User’s Building Access
  • How to work with the Impersonation options, including Teacher Impersonation in Read Only Mode
  • How to create District-Defined Security Resources

Standards Based Gradebook

Description: Whether your Competency Groups are attached to a course or directly to your students, you can use the Teacher Access Center Gradebook to track a student’s progress.  During this session we’ll review the processes that make Standards and Competencies available in TAC and demonstrate how a teacher may attach an assignment to one or more Standards.

During the program you will learn:

  • How to make Competencies available in TAC Gradebook
  • Review of Competency Grading Scales and the Accumulator Options

Description:
This session is appropriate for those who have experience with Report Studio in Cognos 8 or 10 and want to learn how to create effective reports using the discipline module. Attendees will get copies of reports created in session and may need to adjust them for filters and version of Cognos.

  • Overview of discipline related report writing
  • How to make best use of discipline components for report writing
  • Will address several kinds of discipline related reports, like incident counts, action counts, incidents by teacher, actions by administrator, & discipline summary reports

Reports will be provided for Cognos 10.2.2 & may need slight adjustments for earlier Cognos versions.

During the program you will learn:

  • Overview of multiple report writing tools
  • How to make best use of Report Studio & Workspace Advanced
  • Will address HR and touch on other modules
  • Will demonstrate common techniques in both tools
  • Will address grouping, sectioning, filtering, crosstabs, importing reports
  • Attendees will get copies of reports created

Reports will be provided for Cognos 10.2.2 & may need slight adjustments for earlier Cognos versions

During the program you will learn:

  • Overview of multiple report writing tools
  • How to make best use of Report Studio to create multiple query reports
  • Will create a report consisting of multiple joined queries as well as multiple list queries in 1 report.
  • Will address null records & how to locate records with nulls.
  • Attendees will get copies of reports created

Description: This session is designed for those who are new to graphical report writing in Cognos 10 and wish to create a dashboard using Cognos Workspace. Attendees will get copies of reports created during the session but will need to create their own dashboards after tweaking those reports to meet district needs. Reports will be provided for Cognos 10.2.2 & may need slight adjustments for earlier Cognos versions. Attendees should be experienced with writing reports.

During the program you will learn:

  • How to create a Simple list with counts
  • How to create Crosstabs & tables from lists
  • How to Create Graphs from existing lists/tables
  • The basics of selecting the appropriate graph
  • How to create similar related graphs
  • To create a dashboard
  • How to create global filters

Cognos for TAC

Description: This session is appropriate for those who have experience with Report Studio in Cognos 8 or 10 and want to learn how to configure Cognos reports to be available for teachers. During this session we’ll review and test the security needed to provide your teachers access to Cognos reports for students assigned to them through their Homeroom, Scheduled Courses or Activities. We will also create a report using the filters provided in the Cognos model and view the results as a teacher. Session will be conducted using Cognos 10. This is NOT for Districts using Cognos 7 (Impromptu).

During the program you will learn:

  • Security required for Cognos & TAC
  • See how TAC reports are constructed
  • Test/impersonate a teacher access
  • Cognos filters for TAC
  • How to use personal items for TAC
