PowerSchool Partners with Ohio’s Strongsville City School District to Replace Student Registration Packets with an Innovative Online Solution
Strongsville City School District Goes Green and Improves Family Engagement with PowerSchool
Folsom, CA – April 19, 2016 – PowerSchool’s customized online student registration solution is improving processes for Strongsville City School District’s administrative staff. A once burdensome task has also been simplified for families, enabling parents to spend more time with children at home and cultivate strong relationships with school staff members.
“For years, putting pen to paper for student registration was the norm at our district. We’ve invested time to update technology in the classroom and in various operations; however, consistent feedback from our families informed us that student registration was a labor- and paper-intensive process that needed to be modernized,” said Superintendent of Schools, Cameron Ryba.
The electronic format allows families who have more than one child in the district to ‘snap’ data from one student to another. SmartForm™ technology, an intuitive tool built into the solution, collects relevant data based on previously entered information or choices (grade, activities, medical history, etc.). The data submitted by families is reviewed, polished, and formatted to meet district policies and then delivered into the student information system, resulting in up-to-date records on the first day of school.
“We’re excited about the functionality that PowerSchool Registration is providing for our school community. Parents have the ability to replicate data from one child to another. Administrative staff can better track the registration process and generate reports to specific departments, truly improving efficiency and communication between school officials in order to best serve our students and families,” noted Ryba.
Kindergarten registration recently launched for incoming students to Strongsville City School District. In one week, over 190 families enrolled kindergarteners for the 2016/17 school year. “That level of engagement is indicative of the success we’re achieving with PowerSchool Registration. The positive feedback I received about this solution from colleagues at neighboring districts is a clear indicator that we selected the right provider to customize a solution to meet everyone’s needs,” said Ryba.
