Hardeep is an experienced executive with 18 plus years of experience in successful software businesses and is passionate about education. Hardeep brings proven experience leading companies through periods of growth, and will architect the next phase of PowerSchool’s growth plan to have an even greater impact on K-12 education.
Hardeep was CEO of SumTotal Systems, where he led the company’s ground-breaking innovation of its next generation Talent Expansion platform which enables continuous and contextual learning for employees to improve talent engagement, productivity and business results. He led SumTotal to be the #1 market leader in Enterprise Learning systems and record-breaking growth in cloud. SumTotal provided Talent expansion solutions to 43 million users with many small midsize business and half of Fortune 500 companies. After the Skillsoft acquisition of SumTotal, Hardeep was General Manager of the SumTotal business unit advancing the Talent Expansion vision by bringing together the most robust platform with Skillsoft’s 60,000 learning content and books.
Hardeep joined SumTotal from Oracle where he provided years of leadership in product and strategy across a variety of enterprise application areas. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Product Strategy for Oracle Corp. for Product Lifecycle Management and Master Data Management, where he played a key management role in bringing these product lines from concept to market leadership with organic and acquisition strategies, including a key acquisition of Agile Software Corp, a public company.
Prior to Oracle, Hardeep was Vice President of Products at SpinCircuit, an information exchange enterprise software company founded by Cadence, HP, Flextronics, and Avnet. He was also founder and CTO at eBizAutomation, an enterprise integration company that was acquired by SpinCircuit. Early in his career, Hardeep held senior consulting positions at Lucent Technologies and Dun & Bradstreet.
Hardeep loves to spend time with family – traveling, biking, playing golf, and chess with his kids. He loves to coach-mentor his son’s Lego robotics team and be a guinea pig for chess tactics practice for his other son who is a nationally ranked scholastic chess player.
A dedicated leader with over 22 years of leadership experience, and 19 of those years in education technology companies, Chris is passionate about education and education technology.
Chris brings a unique blend of experience in both successful high-growth entrepreneurial environments as well as large market-leading companies. Also, as the brother of the creator and founder of PowerSchool, Chris was instrumental in the growth of PowerSchool from inception through acquisitions by Apple and Pearson, and in achieving and maintaining market leadership. He helped drive the growth of the company from startup to being the number one solution in the market. This, along with more than 22 years of experience building and leading great customer-focused teams, gives Chris a unique experience set.
Prior to re-joining the PowerSchool team, Chris was Managing Director/EVP of Sales and Shared Operations for Pearson. During his time there, Chris led the teams responsible for many software, services, and content solutions, including PowerSchool. Most of his time there was focused on software offerings such as Student Information Systems, LMS, Assessment, IIS (Instructional Improvement Systems), School-to-home communication, dropout prevention, and more, in both North American and international markets.
Outside of work Chris loves to travel, ski, and run, but most of all he loves spending time with his wife and five children.
As the Chief Financial Officer for PowerSchool, Mark is responsible for all finance, accounting, human resource, legal and sales operation functions within the company. He brings more than 20 years of experience building and transforming financial operations across the technology sector. Before joining PowerSchool, Mark was the V.P. of Finance at SumTotal Systems, a leading provider of human capital management software. He has also held senior finance positions at other software companies such as Mentor Graphics and CA Technologies. Mark began his career with Deloitte & Touche before moving onto various corporate finance roles within Dell.
Mark is a Certified Public Accountant and earned a B.S. degree in Managerial Economics from the University of California, Davis and an M.B.A. from the University of Texas, Austin.
Marcy Daniel is PowerSchool’s Chief Product Officer. She is responsible for developing a unified strategic vision of PowerSchool’s portfolio products, managing overall roadmap development and delivering to clients on the roadmap. Marcy joined PowerSchool in February 2016. Prior to joining PowerSchool, Marcy was the Chief Operating Officer of Interactive Achievement. While at Interactive Achievement she was instrumental in 60%+ year-over-year growth in topline revenue and scaling business services to support triple digit growth in end users. She has managed and led multiple functional teams in the education technology space, and has over twenty years of experience in enterprise software development, brand management, and emerging market development.
Marcy holds a Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering from the University of Virginia and an MBA from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina. When she turns the business mind wheels to a slower pace you will find her juggling between her beloved roles of a cheering soccer mom and devoted wife. Occasionally, she finds time to huddle over a warm glass kiln – seeking the Zen of creating functional art.
In his role as Chief Marketing Officer, Anthony works with his team to tell the PowerSchool story, raising awareness for our award-winning products, driving strategic campaigns, and powering the overall marketing operation. He holds true to the belief that marketing is most effective when there is a balance and integration of art and science. Anthony’s passion for PowerSchool stems from his fundamental belief that technology can significantly help to improve student outcomes and give every child the best possible chance to succeed. Prior to joining the leadership team at PowerSchool, Anthony was the CMO at Lanyon, a leading provider of event management software, where he led the global marketing organization. Prior to this, Anthony has many years of experience working in the software and marketing industry having also held the titles of Senior VP of Strategy and Product Management, and VP of Strategy and Business Development.
Outside of work, Anthony enjoys skiing, great movies, dining out and spending time with his two King Charles Spaniels, Archer and Cooper.
Rich joined PowerSchool in 2003, and over the years has expanded his role from Engineering Manager to his current one as Vice President of Development with responsibility for engineering, quality assurance, and hosting operations. Rich has led the PowerSchool R&D team’s substantial improvements in PowerSchool products over the past decade, including technology stack and hosting operations modernization, internationalization, and ability to scale to handle even the largest school districts. He was the founder and former CEO of Foresight Technology for 10 years, a software product and services company. Rich received a BSEE in Electronic Engineering from University of Arkansas.
Rich is an avid outdoorsman and adrenaline junky. He loves hiking, backpacking, scuba diving, and riding his motorcycle in the Sierra mountains, and dreams of a return to amateur auto racing now that his son has graduated high school.
Maulik Datanwala is the Chief Customer Officer at PowerSchool. Maulik brings with him over a decade and half of expertise in the enterprise software space across Professional Services, Managed Services, Technical Support, and Sustained Engineering. Prior to PowerSchool, he worked at Sumtotal Systems and ran a number of Operations functions as a part of the Executive Management team.
On a personal front, Maulik co-founded two software and services companies, very early in his career. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce and Economics from the University of Mumbai and a Master’s degree in Business Administration and Information Technology from the National Institute of Management. An avid sportsman, Maulik played Minor League Cricket in India. He is often found playing in cricket leagues around the Sacramento area over weekends.
Jeff Lambert is PowerSchool’s Chief Legal & Chief Corporate Development Officer, overseeing the company’s global legal operations and corporate development strategy. He has over 20 years of legal operations and corporate development strategy experience, including leading and advising on all aspects of over 40 buy and sell side mergers and acquisitions over his career. Prior to joining PowerSchool, Jeff served as Chief Legal Officer & Head of Corporate Development for ACTIVE Network until its sale to Global Payments, Inc. in late 2017. During his tenure, Jeff helped lead ACTIVE’s 2011 IPO, and subsequent 2013 go private acquisition by Vista Equity Partners. Prior to ACTIVE Network, Jeff was Chief Legal Officer for SettlementOne, Inc. and its affiliates. He has held senior roles within the legal departments of several public and private technology companies such as Sony Electronics, Island Pacific, Inc., and Pyxis (now known as CareFusion, a subsidiary of Becton Dickinson).
Jeff is a member of the state bars of California and Texas, and is also a California licensed real estate broker. He earned a B.A. from Dartmouth College, an MBA (International) from the University of San Diego (Ahlers Center), and a JD from San Diego’s California Western School of Law.
Steven Ballantyne is the Chief of Staff for PowerSchool, having joined from Vista Equity Partners. Previously Steven served as the Program Director for Project Realize, Vista’s strategic project for adopting and growing companies. Ballantyne worked in business strategy and development at a prominent medical manufacturer and distributor. While there, he helped analyze new markets in the healthcare industry, managed the FDA approval process and design and patent new products.
Steven’s tenure also includes various positions in finance and community development at Morgan Stanley and at the Upper Manhattan Empowerment Zone. He was integral in providing capital and business acumen to small businesses in the Upper Manhattan landscape. He was also responsible for investment in mixed income communities and investment in the East River Plaza, a major landmark in Manhattan.
Steven received his B.A. in Economics and Spanish from Davidson College, his M.B.A from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and his M.P.A from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. While in school, he was a Toigo Fellow and Reynolds Fellow, two prestigious fellowships recognizing academic achievement.
Mike has spent over 29 years working in K-12 Education Technology, Service and Sales. He started with NCS in 1987, which became part of Pearson through an acquisition in 2000. He has held various management roles throughout the years in Finance, Services, and the last 20 years in K-12 SIS Sales management. He currently successfully leads the PowerSchool sales team covering both North America and International markets.
Mike loves spending time in the outdoors and looks forward to finding time to go fishing and hunting.
Varughese George (“Var”) is the Vice President of Compliance Technology for PowerSchool. Var is responsible for the strategic vision and management of all aspects of the company’s product development and technology portfolio that serves PowerSchool’s global customers to drive optimized compliance outcomes for their regulatory compliance and reporting obligations. A senior product and technology executive with twenty-year Silicon Valley career and executive roles in companies such as Oracle and E2open, Var brings his extensive experience and leadership in building large scale enterprise and consumer software and successfully transforming multiple companies from on-premise / hosted product portfolios to multi-tenant SaaS and cloud business.
Before joining PowerSchool Var served as the founder and Chief Technology Officer for Oegrav Systems, a company that specialized in context aware and proximity based ad technology. Prior to that Var was the the Chief Technology Officer and VP of Product Development for Satmetrix System Inc, the leading cloud-based Customer Experience Management company and innovator of Net Promote Score®. At Satmetrix he set the vision and strategy for the company’s products and technologies, built teams in the US and India, and successfully executed products that delivered growth with over 1000 enterprise customers in 40+ languages. Var was also the founder and managing director of Satmetrix Systems India.
Prior to that Var served as the VP of Product Development for E2open Inc, a cloud based supply chain software company that acquired his previous company GetSilicon Inc., where Var served as the VP of Product Development as well, and built successful multi-tenant SaaS based supply chain software for the complex semi-conductor industry that led to the company’s acquisition by E2open Inc.
Var holds an MS degree in Systems & Information from Birla Institute of Technology and Science and a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Bharathiar University.
As Vice President of Strategy and Market Development, Alan Taylor is responsible for leading PowerSchool’s sales strategy, competitive intelligence, proposals response, and sales development functions. He previously held roles as Vice President of Sales Operations and Chief of Staff at PowerSchool, and prior to that served as Director of Strategic Programs at Mitratech, the leading provider of Enterprise Legal Management solutions for corporate and government legal departments of all sizes. Also at Mitratech, he served as Director of Operations, responsible for FP&A, Sales Operations, Services Operations, and Business Applications. Alan began his career on the investment team at Vista Equity Partners, a leading private equity firm focused on investing in software and technology-enabled businesses.
Alan holds a BS in Finance from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. He enjoys sports, the outdoors, and spending time with his family.
